BIOGRAPHY: During the Civil War he served in the Confederate calvary as ablacksmith. He died, possibly of heat exhaustion (heatstroke) in Bonham,Texas while performing his duties and was buried with full militaryhonors.

BIOGRAPHY: 1st Corporal W R Teague, Age 39, enlisted October 10, 1862, inDenton Co. Texas, in Captain J. Theodore Doresett's Mounted Company "C",21 Bridgade, Texas State Troops, Brigadier General William Hudson. Thiscompany was disbanded January 15, 1963. One muster roll of this companyis on file at the Texas State Archives, Austin, TX.

BIOGRAPHY: W R Teague was the government blacksmith at Bonham, FanninCo., Texas during the Civil War. His shop stood where the present daycourthouse is in Denton, TX.

BIOGRAPHY: W R Teague served in the Conderate Army, Captain Sam Patten'sCompany, Colonel James Bourland's Regiment from July 1862 until June 20,1864 as a blacksmith in Caddo Indian Territory.

BIOGRAPHY: Tradition has it that his wife, Sarah, rode sidesaddle to bewith him in his final days although she expecting twins.

BIOGRAPHY: W R Teague was initiated into the Stanfield Lodge #217 inDenton, TX on April 25, 1863, passed July 30, 1863, raised February 6,1864, died June 20, 1864.

BIOGRAPHY: Apparently his brother Thomas was in the same company as W R.He was still in the company in August 1864 (according to Washington DCrecords)

BURIAL: Buried with full military honors in Bonham, Texas.
